How we choose
Every issue holds a small number of people. This is how they get there, and what we promise them and our readers.
We look for something built
A house, a label, a practice, a collection, a name. We are interested in what someone has made, not in fame for its own sake.
Invited pages and paid pages
Our cover voices are always invited and never pay to appear. Profiles, features and solo editions may be commissioned. Every commissioned page carries our Prive Profile mark, so readers always know.
Nothing printed that was not said
Every story begins with an hour of recorded conversation. Quotes come only from that conversation, and every person reads and approves their text before it is set.
What we never do
We never invent quotes, never print a claim we cannot stand behind, and never present a paid page as an invited one.
