A cover, from first call to final proof

A Prive Pages cover takes about six weeks.

Week one: the conversation. An hour, recorded, with no list of questions on the table.

Weeks two and three: the writing. The story is written in her voice and sent to her to read.

Week four: the light. Our art desk briefs the photographer on the pages the pictures must fill.

Weeks five and six: the proofs. Type, pictures and pages are set by hand, proofed twice, and approved.
